Low dose nitric oxide inhalation improves the survival of the paraquat-injured rats

The PQ (paraquat) gruop showed the higher total WBC and neutrophil counts in BAL fluid, LDH level and total protein concentration in BAL, myeloperoxidase activity in lung, MDA level in blood. PQ + NO5 and PQ + NO10 did not decrease the elevated total WBC and neutrophil counts, the LDH level in BAL fluid, and total protein and MPO activity in hte lung treated by PQ. In conclusion, low dose NO inhalation might be beneficial for the survival of paraquat-induced injured rats by attenuating lipid peroxidation.
