How Can Korean Language Arts Teachers Find Happiness? - An explanatory study on reflective teacher education -

초록

This study collected 40 Korean language arts teachers’ essays on happiness, applied network analysis to explore the implications of our findings as a guide to reflective teacher education. Data from keyword network sources were divided into 11 categories, such as, ideal appearance of classes according to tradition, delivery of content by teachers, difficulties and experiences in school days (especially of high school), connection to sub-domains of Korean language arts subjects (e.g., literature, grammar), and awareness of “reflection in action” as well as “reflection on action.” The implications of the study findings were as follows: (1) the universality and specificity of the happiness of Korean language arts teachers should be considered; (2) happiness should be refined into a concept capable of being taught ; (3) teachers’ awareness of “reflection in action” as well as “reflection in action ” should be promoted; and (4) the experience of previous school days should be utilized as a source of growth to enhance professionalism and happiness as teachers.
