An Adaptive Transmission Algorithm based on QRS Detection for ECG Devices in WBAN

Wireless body area network (WBAN) offers cost-effective solutions for healthcare infrastructure. In this paper, an adaptive transmission algorithm is designed to handle channel efficiency, which adjusts a packet size according to the difference of feature point values that indicates vital sign characteristics. In addition, we propose a priority adjusting method that enhances QoS while guaranteeing signal integrity. In this paper, in particular, we use an ECG signal as an example. Simulations have been carried out for the performance evaluation and the results show that the proposed algorithm archived significant improvement in terms of average packet latency.
