Sol-Gel Processing and Vibrational Studies of PMN-PT Powders and Thin Films

Sol-Gel Processing was utilized in preparation of PMN(Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3) powder and thin layers. PT(PbTiO3) was introduced in PMN for stabilization of perovskite structure and lowering crystalline phase development temperature. PMN-PT powder was analyzed using micro-Raman spectrophotometer and Raman spectra were deconvoluted using Gaussian function. The multiband Raman spectra revealed that PMN has a nanodomain of rhombohedral structure and independent of the Titanium concentration in PMN-PT solid solution. Dielectric thin layers were fabricated on Pt-coated silicon wafer by spin-coating method. The final thickness of thin layers were 0.5㎛. The perovskite structure more readily developed in thin layers by adding of PT and dielectric constant(k) increased with PT concentration. The dielectric constant of PMN thin layer is 2460, and that of 10mol%PT added PMN is 13940 at 1kHz.
