Reconstruction of chest wall defects after tumor resection

Purpose: The chest wall defects are commonly caused by tumor resection, deep sternal wound infection, chronic empyema, osteoradionecrosis, and trauma. For the prevention of paradoxical chest wall motion it is important to restore the chest wall stability and properly cover the soft tissue. Several methods of chest wall reconstruction have been described. We evaluated the results and complications of 13 cases of tumor resection followed by chest wall reconstruction
