남자배구 국가경쟁력 강화를 위한 방안 모색: 전직 대표팀 지도자 의견을 중심으로

This study investigates the causes behind the decline in international competitiveness of the Korean men's volleyball national team and proposes solutions to address this issue. Through in-depth interviews with three former national team coaches, the research identifies key factors contributing to the decline: lack of international tournament experience, shifts in player attitudes, and insufficient training time. These factors have negatively impacted individual performance and team dynamics, hindering the team’s ability to compete effectively on the global stage. To overcome these challenges, the study suggests three main strategies: enhancing the capabilities of youth coaches, shifting away from a performance-first mentality, and revitalizing the professional league. Strengthening youth coaching systems through structured training programs and educational resources is essential for developing foundational skills. Addressing the performance-first mindset requires institutional changes, such as improved support for coaches and a long-term focus on player development. Furthermore, professional league revitalization is crucial for expanding the volleyball infrastructure, inspiring younger generations, and fostering broader participation. This study underscores the need for systemic reform within the volleyball ecosystem, emphasizing collaboration between national governing bodies and long-term policy support. By implementing these strategies, Korean men's volleyball can rebuild its competitiveness and reestablish its presence on the international stage. Future research should include perspectives from players, fans, and administrators to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Korean volleyball.
