The Design and implementation of componentized web-enabled GIS

As Internet computing environment has been expanding, the researches on internet-enabled GIS have been increased and mainly focused on the web GIS which enables users to access geographic information by web browser. This paper presents the design and implementation of a web GIS based on dynamic componets. The component run on a web browser and corresponds to each of GIS facilities such as map browser, layer controller, index map and etc. The server of the proposed system manages not only GIS data but also GIS componets. When the client system requires, the server sends both geographic data and GIS components to the client system. Users can configure a client system according to their requirements using script language running on web brower. Therefore, it is very easy to configure a client system and extend the existent system.
