Design of Sustainable Waterfront where Nature meets the City Edge

This study argues the modern paradigm of indeterminacy in order to introduce an architecture of indeterminate urban edge, which respects the law of the formation of ecosystem; of which the building form and programs are determined by minimal act of architecture based on the interrelationship within ecological system. The main concept in the design is focused on the introduction of universal material as a method to withdraw the dichotomous hierarchy inherent in between urbanism and architecture, city and nature. The study eventually explores the possibility of new synthetic architecture, in which the hierarchical order among structure, skin, and program is withdrawn.
