A total of 335 school female nutrition teachers and dietitians from Incheon area were surveyed by a self-reported questionnaire in November of 2010. Collected data were processed using SPSS 15.0. The reliability of the questionnaire was tested and differences between the two groups were analyzed through Chi-square test and two-way ANOVA. In the results of two-way ANOVA on the major variables according to employment type, general characteristics and school meal service type, the effect of employment type on role conflict and job satisfaction was different according to age, and self-efficacy, job satisfaction and job involvement were influenced by employment type and annual salary. Employment type and the number of meals also affected role conflict, job satisfaction and job involvement. The effect of employment type on job involvement was different according to meal service type. Therefore, it is necessary to establish strategies for resolving role conflicts among school meal specialists and improving their self-esteem for enhancing consumers' satisfaction with the general quality of school meal services. These efforts may contribute to their job satisfaction and job involvement of meal specialists, and ultimately to the productivity of meal services and the establishment of meal specialists' roles.
