Selection of distal fusion level with reference to the sagittal stable vertebra in posterior instrumentation and fusion for throracic hyperkyphosis

The distal end of fusion for thoracic hyperkyphosis should have the lowest instrumented vertebra touched by the line drawn vertically from the posterior-superior corner of the sacrum. Distal fusion levels that include the first lordotic disc for thoracic hyperkyphosis is not always appropriate to prevent distal junctional kyphosis.
