Due to the apparent advantages of SEM, it may be reasonable to use the spectral element model, instead of finite element model, to improve the identification of non-ideal structural boundary. Because it is not always easy to extract accurate modal parameters from experiments, it will be convenient to determine the non-ideal boundary conditions directly from measured frequency response functions (FRFs), instead of modal parameters. Hence, this paper introduces a new approach to identify non-ideal structural boundary conditions for the spectral element beam model by using measured FRFs.
