Need Analysis on Customized Educational Programs for Women Engineering Students

Women with an engineering academic background have been taking important roles in various industrial fields in last decades in South Korea. Increasing their fundamental roles and responsibilities in engineering industries makes many researchers in academic institutes with engineering colleges investigate new educational methodologies and systems for female student in engineering. The research titled “Development of customized educational programs for women engineering student” was launched and conducted by Inha University with four-year research period. A need analysis presented in this study is one of important frameworks for creating new educational programs for female engineering students. This study shows basic needs of new educational programs for female engineering students. In addition, appropriate methodologies for conducting a need analysis with achievement of research objectives are introduced. Findings by this study expect to provide us or other researchers interested in the education for female engineering students with crucial reasons and factors considered in creating new educational programs. Further studies planned within work scopes in this research are consequently conducted based on the findings of this study.
