초록

A city neglecting individual memory in order to force collective identity is a meaningless museum-like space without texts. The project, taking the Dongdaemun Fortress Park recently completed as the site, intends to disclose the cultural disaster by which 100 years’ grass-roots memory was thoroughly dismissed in order to preserve 600 years’ unfamiliar history, and to advocate that a prerequisite of historical restoration overlooks the importance of the presence of the past that has made today’s city. The study, developing the underground of the Dongdaemun Fortress Park, attempts to link the lost place with the presence of the past to sustain the ecology of urbanism dismissed by the historical restoration. key words: the Dongdaemun Fortress Park, historical restoration, the presence of the past, ecology of urbanism
