Anti-inflammatory Effect of Phytoncide in Indomethacin induced Gastritis Rat Model

초록

[Introduction] Phytoncide are known to be a self-defense function to protect the plant against insects, microorganism and animals. There are many phytoncide-like compounds for insect repellents, deodorants as well as anti-bacterial agents. Recently, it is also studied its function of anti-inflammation with the limited number of publication. [Purpose] So we investigate whether phytoncide extracted from pinecone has an effect in indomethacin induced gastritis rat model. [Materials & Methods] We divided the animals into 7 groups as follow:(G1) vehicle control, (G2) Indomethacin 80mg/kg (G3) Indomethacin 80mg/kg + lansoprazole 30mg/kg, (G4) Indomethacin 80mg/kg + CP 2ml (G5) Indomethacin 80mg/kg + CP 1ml (G6) Indomethacin 80mg/kg + CW 2ml (G7) (G2) Indomethacin 80mg/kg + CV 1ml. After 6hrs of test article injection, the stomach was removed and determined the inflammation density compared to disease control. And also, immunohistochemistry of i-NOS was done to verify the efficacy as a general inflammation marker. [Results] The gastric damage score was almost restored to disease control (G2) level in G3 that means the entire animal treatments and procedure was done correctively. The ulcer area were reduced all the phytoncide treated group statistically (G4/G6, P<0.01, G5/G7, P<0.05). The entire group of phytoncide treatment was diminished histological scores statistically (P<0.01) which is confirmed with H&E staining and i-NOS expression pattern. [Conclusions] Based on these results, phytoncide functions an anti-inflammatory effect in indomethacin induced gastritis animal model.
