초록
Wire electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a non-conventional machining process that requires notably long processing time. Therefore, optimum machining conditions must be determined for different materials. In this study, the commonly used STS304 stainless steel was selected as the target material to determine the optimum parameters for wire EDM. The material thickness was fixed at 3 mm. Servo voltage, a processing parameter, was varied while machining the STS304 3T plate via wire EDM, exploring strategies to achieve minimal cutting time and excellent surface quality. Because the other processing parameters were fixed at default values, it was found that a certain servo voltage value minimized the cutting time and that the cutting time partially influenced the surface roughness of the machined surfaces. Consequently, potential approaches to improve the surface quality by minimizing defects and cracks were explored.
