When the ship is operating in the wave, it is predicted that the change of the attitude is more severe than calm water. Changes of attitude cause changes in propulsion performance such as thrust and torque. The interaction between the propeller and the free surface due to the ship motion in waves has a great influence on the propulsion performance. Therefore, the analysis of the propulsion performance considering the phase and height of the wave is an important factor for improving the operational efficiency of the ship. In this paper, numerical investigation on nominal wake, the rate of revolutions n, sinkage, trim, thrust and torque coefficients KT, KQ and resistance coefficient CT in regular head waves are performed for a KVLCC2 model ship at a full-load condition in comparison with calm water.
