Multiple hydrogen bonds construct a porous crystalline network, known as a hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF). Although hydrogen bonds have relatively weak bond strength compared to covalent bonds, they contribute to the structural flexibility of HOFs. This flexibility sometimes manifests as an S-shaped isotherm, providing a high gas working capacity crucial for effective gas storage. Despite the recognized potential of HOFs, there are limited examples of gas storage under high pressure to date. Herein, we report the synthesis and hydrogen gas storage properties of HOF 1 ([(H2dobpdc)(GuaH)2]) for the first time. This framework, constructed through multiple hydrogen bonds, exhibits excellent structural stability over one year and selective hydrogen gas adsorption and storage based on its structural flexibility. Multiple hydrogen bonds construct a porous crystalline network, known as a hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF), which can store a moderate amount of hydrogen gas.
