A resistance series charts to predict the resistance performance of high-speed semi-planting hulls have been developed through the experimental and computational study of newly designed round bilge type hulls. Two basic and seventeen series hull forms were designed and used in the study. Five hull forms were basically selected at the special beam-draft ratios, i.e., 3.0 and 3.5, while nine hull forms were selected at the ratio of B/T of 2.5 to cover the wide ranges of longitudinal center of buoyancy (LCB). A series of resistance tests of all hull forms were carried out at the design draft in the towing tank of KRISO. In order to compensate the test results at the low speed ranges, numerical computations were made for the whole series hull forms using the commercial CFD code, WAVIS, developed in KRISO. Sixty-three sheets for beam-draft ratio of 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5, respectively and a sheet for LCB position were newly developed to predict the resistance performance of semi-planing hulls. The new series charts developed in this paper can be used as a good substitute for the Taylor's and/or Yamagata' charts and are expected to be widely used to develop the semi-planing hulls in the early design stage.
