ABS/PLA composites were prepared by melt compounding ABS with PLA. Maleic anhydride grafted styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN-MAH), Maleic anhydride grafted ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR-MAH), Glycidyl methacrylate grafted styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN-GMA), Poly carbonate (PC) and PE-epoxy were chosen for the improvement of the compatibility between ABS and PLA. Effect of the incorporation of the coupling agents on the mechanical properties of ABSIPLA composites was explored. EPR-MAR SAN-MAH, SAN-GMA. PC and PE-epoxy improved tensile properties and Izod impact strength of the composites. SEM analysis showed that the boundar between AB and PLA was much more ob cure in ABS/SAN-MAH/EPR-MAH/SAN-GMA/PE-epoxy/PC/PLA than in ABS/PLA composite due to the stronger interaction between the components through the plau ible chemical reaction between the respectively functional group in polymers and natural fiber
