Nano-Formulation for Curcumin and Resveratrol in Colorectal Cancer Therapy

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the most prevalent malignant cancer in the world with a higher death incidence compared to other cancers. CRC therapy includes chemotherapy and surgery which eventually leads to the development of chemoresistance accompanied by a myriad side effect. Natural phytochemical is the only best alternative. Phytochemicals curcumin and resveratrol, exhibit a wide range of beneficial properties accomplishes them as promising anticancer agents against CRC. However, its poor solubility, low absorption, and rapid biotransformation during conventional delivery of the drug accelerated the need to develop a better alternative. Nanoformulations which are designed to overcome these limitations exhibits promising effective applications as a therapeutic drug delivery system for CRC treatment. This review focuses on the pristine curcumin and resveratrol nanoformulations with enhanced hydrophobic drug delivery exhibiting potential anticancer efficacy against CRC growth and development. © 2022 by Begell House, Inc.
