A searching algorithm between deformable bodies in 2-D analysis

In present study, efficient and accurate contact searching algorithm is proposed for the contact problems between or more deformable bodies by the finite element method. A slave node and a master surface are defined using the side of a finite element mesh on the surface. The main goal of this paper is to develop techniques of reducing the non-smoothness of the contact interactions arising the from the finite element discretization of the contact surface by the least square method. Contact detection is accomplished by monitoring the displacements of the slave nodes throughout the calculation for possible penetration of a master surface. To establish the validity of the proposed algorithm, some different process with different geometries were taken for the test run.
