Age-related decline of cGMP in tongue tissues: expression of neuronal nitric oxide synthase and caveolin-3

cGMP of cyclic nucleotides may mediate taste transduction(Hypothesis suggested by Tonosaki and Funakoshi, 1998). In this connection, we hypothesize that alteration of the cGMP concentration in rat tongue tissues may be closely related with taste ability , which is age-sensitive factor.(중략) Therefore, the decrease of cGMP Level in aged tonque tissues(probably indicate defective taste transduction) can be related directly with the lover, nNOS expression level and NOS activity rather than inhibitory effects of caveolin-3.
