초록

The aim of this research is to examine the change and consistency of Koreans perception of success as a result of social transformation (Kim & Park 1998; Park & Kim, 1999). More specifically, the goal of this study is to re-analyze Koreans attribution about success, failure, and future aspiration. A total of 1,101 students and their parents participated in this study (e.g., elementary students=120, father=115, mother=120; junior high students=92, fathers=82, mothers: N=91; high school students=96, fathers=80, mother=94; undergraduate students=209). The results indicate that self-regulation is perceived to be the primary factor in achieving success. Moreover, the characteristics of hard work and strong will promote Koreans to succeed. Furthermore, the emotional support received from parents and spouse is found to be an important factor in achieving success.
