THE EXPERIMENT FOR CHAOS OF CANTILEVER BEAM

초록

It is very interesting to study dynamic behaviors of a slender beam. Harmonic base-excitation of a slender cantilever beam shows many nonlinear dynamics due to energy transfer, which causes superharmonic, subharmonic and chaotic motions of the beam. Experimental observation and verification of those motions carry much importance for the theoretical study as well as in itself. Chaotic motions of the beam appear as a pink-noise-like signal in fast Fourier transformation analysis and as a torus-like structure in the oscilloscope. Geometry of the torus will be analyzed to eventually give information of chaotic motions of the beam.
