Efficient Rendering M-ulti-representation of Spatial Features on Internet GIS

Multi-representation of spatial features is ideal for distinct requirements of various GIS applications. The goal of this paper is to efficiently render multi-representation of spatial features on Internet GIS. There are two main problems to be resolved before this goal is reached. The first one is how to efficiently generate multiple representations from a large complex spatial dataset. The second one is how to render multi-representation on the Internet. Correspondingly, two methods are proposed in this paper. One is Wavelet-Based Linear Feature Simplification, Which exploits wavelets and achieves O(n) in time complexity, where n is the number of points im a linear object. The other is Scale-Aware Framework for renderimg multiple representatious in Internet GIS, which considers the requirements of rendering multi-representation in the client/server architecture of the Internet. Experimental results from the simulation system prove that our proposals have incorporated multi-representataion intdo interne GIS efficiently.
