Control Characteristics of ER/MR Fluid-Based Actuators for Automotive Applications

This paper presents various types of ER/MR actuating systems for vehicle applications. The specific configurations of the shock absorber using ER/MR fluids are provided with some experimental results. In addition, control strategies for the ER/MR actuating devices are discussed by focussing general requirements of themicroprocessor, signal converters, the high voltage amplifier and the isolater.
