HIV 양성 환자에서 발생한 Primary effusion lymphoma의 세포학적 소견

Cytologic findings of primary effusion lymphoma in a HIV-positive patient: A case report

초록

Primary effusion lymphoma has been known to be associated with Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpes virus (HHV-8) and occasionally with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). We report a case of primary effusion lymphoma presenting as pleural effusion in a HIV-positive patient. On pleural fluid cytology, highly cellular smears were ccomposed of exclusively large, neoplastic lymphoid cells with basophilic abundant cytoplasm and larg, round nuclei with prominent nucleoli. Many cells had immunoblastic, plasmacytic or anaplastic appearances. On immunohistochemical study, they were positive staining for CD30, EMA, EBER, and focal cytoplasmic CD79a. No staining for T cell markers, ALK, CD20, CD15 was reported.
