Efficacy test of maize cob stock on the digestive tract inflammation in animal model
초록
Maize cob is known as a by-product of the maize crop. It contains 30?35% hemicellulose, 40?45% cellulose, and 10?20% lignin. The processing of maize has been intensively developed in the 20th century leading to an increase in the volumes of this by-product. Being widely used in variety of agricultural (biofuel enzymes , proteins, litter for poultry and other animals, mulch and soil conditioner, fodder for ruminants despite their low nutritive value, furfural or the sugar replacement xylitol) and industrial (absorb finishing fluids, oil and water, clean up industrial or environmental spills) applications, maize cob is admitted to be a reliable natural source for human needs. In addition maize cobs are known as excellent carriers for vitamins and antibiotics in animal feed, for herbicides and pesticides in lawn care products and might be a source for sustainable energy production. Due to the maize cob structure and water holding capacity (WHC) and swelling capacity it has a prebiotic effect in the animal, decreases hydration properties of digesta, increasing it from the stomach to the ileum and improves the intestinal fermentative activity. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most widely prescribed medications for treating conditions such as ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, migraine, low back pain etc. Even though NSAIDs are confessed as efficient pain relievers their adverse side effects became a significant matter for contemporary medicine. It is already known that NSAIDs increase the risk of developing nausea, gastric mucosa damage or ulceration, heart and kidney dysfunction. In particular case of gastric inflammation NSAIDs prevent an enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX1 and COX2) from its normal function.
