초록

The rigid-plastic finite element method is applied to the analysis of forming process for manufacturing a steel shell body. The conventional forming process comprises of five forming stages such as bending, drawing, ironing, heading and sizing. The existing process sequence was developed and designed by forming equipment experts simply based on their experience and instincts. The conventional five-stage forming process is simulated and the simulation results are summarized in terms of deformation patterns and load-stroke relationships for each operational stage. The simulation results for conventional forming process provide design criteria for an improved process.
