Pre-Reduction Modeling of Manganese Ore

Ferromanganese maunfacturing process consumes much electricity and generates large amounts of CO2 gas, therefore there is a need for developing of eco-friendly process. To this end, exhausted gas will be reused for pre-reduction furnace is a heat exchange and reduction reactor involving counter-current flows of gaseous and solid materials. It is very difficult to measure directly internal flows and to understand phenomena inside the pre-reduction furnace because of the high temperature and hazardous conditions. Therefore, simulation models are useful for predicting inner phenomena. In this study, a pre-reduction furnace was designed for energy reduction. And CFD and basic based spread sheet, MicrosoftⓇ Office Excel were used for the calculation of temperature and reduction reaction by modeling. Gas and solid temperature and mass fraction of Mn2O3, Mn3O4 and MnO that are components of manganese ore along the vertical direction were finally calculated by this model.
