High-Performance Erasure Coding and Adaptive Block based Chunking in Managing Smart Classroom Storage Systems

Traditional storage management systems for smart classroom show low performance when small read and write operations are executed. This paper adapts block based chunking of big IoT data and presents high-performance erasure coding on SAN-based flash array storage in a smart classroom, which reduces the number of read and write operations by merging small files into a united chunk and reduces the number of XOR operations to generate parity data in the encoding process. Regarding the average write throughput, the proposed method has a higher performance by 22 %, and 56 % compared to Huang et al. and Scott et al. with respect to file size and buffer size.
