A Study for the Control of the NSOM in the Liquid Environment for the Photonic Device characterization

초록

The NSOM system operating in the liquid environment was developed for the characterization of photonic devices. Contrary to the conventional NSOM, it was impossible for the fiber tip to approach close to the core-cladding interface, because the cladding region of photonic devices was composed of a solid material. This problem could be resolved by filling the cladding region with a liquid. Consequently, the control of a fiber tip in the liquid environment is very important for the characterization of devices. For the air and the liquid environments, the resonance effects and the shear forces of the dithering fiber tip were measured. In particular, the dependency of the shear force on several parameters was analyzed to find the optimal method of the height control.
