Numerical Study on the Performance of Propeller Operating near Free Surface

초록

The results of numerical study on the performance of propeller operating near free surface are presented in this paper. The simulations are verified through the comparison with the experimental data, which is performed in a circulating water channel. The propeller performances according to the submerged depth of propeller are investigated. And the effects of propeller advance ratio on the wave patterns, flow structures around propeller as well as thrust and torque of propeller are also studied in the research. Air ventilation is not observed in a low advance coefficient. However, it shows that the wave pattern is strongly related to the tip vortex strength and inflow velocity. When air ventilation is not occurred, the deduction of propeller thrust and torque increases in high advance coefficients.
