Synthesis of Novel Crystalline Diblock Copolymers of Poly(γ-Phenyl-ε-caprolactone) and Poly(L-Lactide) Using Ring Opening Polymerization

A new type of crystalline diblock copolymers[P(γ-PhCL)-b-PLA] of amorphous poly(γ- phenyl-?-caprolactone) [poly(γ-PhCL)] and crystalline poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) was synthesized using diphenyl phosphate (DPP) as an acid-type organic catalyst. The chemical structure of poly(γ-PhCL)-b-PLA was confirmed by the FTIR and NMR data. The DSC data showed double meltings at 148 ℃ and 155 ℃ which were attributed to the metastable and stable crystal of the PLLA chains, respectively. while the% crystallinity decrease agree with XRD results. The percent crystallinity of PLLA-b-PγPhCL was determined by the XRD analysis and was well matched with the data obtained by the DSC measurement.
