초록
Biliary drainage in malignant biliary obstruction improves patient survival and quality of life (Huibregtse et al., Endoscopy 21:280-282, 1989). Endoscopic stenting is increasingly being used in the management of biliary obstruction and has become the current treatment of choice for the palliation of blockage caused by malignant (Neuhaus et al., Endoscopy 21:225-228, 1989; Irving et al., Radiology 172:321-326, 1989; Dumonceau et al., Endoscopy 44:277-298, 2012). A variety of stents have been developed to enhance the efficacy of the procedure, and improvements are ongoing. In this article, we review the recent advances in biliary stent. We describe the rationale behind the design and the resulting outcome for each stent type. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.
