Reclassification of the "indeterminate" diagnosis in thyroid fine needle aspiration cytology by Bethesda system

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the usefulness of reclassifying "indeterminate" diagnoses in reporting thyroid aspiration cytology using the Bethesda system. STUDY DESIGN: We reviewed and reclassified cytologic specimens from 171 "indeterminate" cases of thyroid FNA that were histologically confirmed in the Inha University Hospital of Korea from June 2004 to September 2009.
