An Efficient and Chemoselective System for the Oxidation of Hydrocarbons

Much attention has been paid towards the oxidation of hydrecarbens enployin Gif reactions. An efficeint system for the oxidation of activated hydrocarbons with GoAgg V has been discovered. This system consists of t-butyl hydroperoxide as an oxidant and iron(III) chloride/picolinicacid (1:2) as catalyst in a typical Gif solvent system that is pyridine/acetonitrile. Products were characterized by GC and NMR.
