Palladium(II) complexes containing 6,6'-disubstituted-2,2'-dipyridyl-type tri- and tetradentate amine ligands have been used in the copolymerization of ethylene and carbon monoxide. New palladium(II) complexes were prepared and they were characterized by 1H, 13C NMR, GC/MS, and elemental analysis. Synthetic strategy and spectroscopic properties are discussed. Effect of substituent chain length, electronic, steric and charge factors on the life time of catalysts, catalytic activities and physical properties of polmers are also discussed.
