초록

Automatic generation of signal transduction pathways is challenging because they are often complicated, nonplanar graph with a large number of crossings. Most signal transduction pathways available in public databases are static images and thus cannot be refined or changed to reflect an update in data. We have developed an algorithm for visualizing signal transduction pathways as three-dimensional layered digraphs. Experimental results demonstrate the algorithm efficiently generates clear and aesthetically pleasing drawings of large-scale signal transduction pathways.
