Residual Longitudinal Strength Analyses of Asymmetrically Damaged Ship

초록

This paper provides damage sizes and locations under the collision and grounding from DNV and ABS rules. It is noted that the damage sizes from DNV are bigger than those from ABS. Nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) is used to estimate residual longitudinal strength of asymmetrically damaged ship hull girder due to collision and grounding. The accuracy of nonlinear FEA is verified by comparing FEA result with a 1/3-sclaled frigate test result. The FEAsare performed on large-sizedtanker and bulker where the vessels are randomly heeled due to flooding of compartments. The angles of heeling are assumed to be from 0o to 180o by 30o. Moment-curvature curves are graphically presented on each heeling angle. The comparison of the ultimate residual strengths for intact and damaged ships is shown where the residual strengths of grounded ships with DNV assumption are most critical.
