This study applies GCP (Ground Control Point) chip matching techniques using GCP chips of varying resolutions to achieve precise geometric correction of very high-resolution satellite imagery. When correcting images with a ground sampling distance (GSD) of 30 cm, higher-resolution GCP chips may be required to ensure sufficient accuracy. In this research, a WorldView-3 image in Geumsan, Republic of Korea, was geometrically corrected using two types of GCP chips: one derived from aerial orthophotos and the other from UAV images. The results show that the sensor model achieved an average accuracy within 1.7 pixels when using aerial GCP chips, and within 1.1 pixels when using UAV-based GCP chips. © ACRS 2025.All rights reserved.
