Purpose: This study was carried out to identify the risk factors of fall and examine the results of fall in patients aged 60 and over diagnosed with osteoporosis. Method: This retrospective descriptive survey data were collected using by 73 questions and carried out through one-to-one interviews. The subjects were 91 patients at a university hospital in a city. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, χ²-test, t-test, Fisher's exact test and multiple logistic regression using SPSS PC Version 12.0. Results: There is a significant difference in age(p=.000),gender(p=.003), number of medication received(t=-2.113, p=.038), presence of disease(t=2.682, p=.009), barriers to communication(p=.010), gait disturbance(p=.001) and patients’ recognition of osteoporosis(p=.000) to intrinsic risk factors. Regarding to the extrinsic risk factors of fall in patients with osteoporosis, there is a significant difference in the height level of bed(χ²=6.858, p=.009), non slippery floor(χ²=4.514, p=.034), bathroom mat without anti-slip rubber on the back(p=.013), night lamp on the passage from the bedroom to the bathroom(χ²=10.096, p=.001) and the distance between bedroom and bathroom(χ²=10.551, p=.001). In patients with osteoporosis, the intrinsic risk factors of falling were aging(odds ratio=3.742), gait disturbance(odds ratio=12.565), taking of one or fewer medicine(odds ratio=7.873) and having of two or more diseases(odds ratio=5.173). In patients with osteoporosis, the extrinsic risk factors of falling were the use of a bed(odds ratio=3.093), slippery floors(odds ratio=12.130), bathroom mat without anti-slip rubber backing(odds ratio=3.564) and presence of a night light on the passage from the bedroom to the bathroom (odds ratio=2.980).
