초록

We report on the design and optimization of nano-ring resonators made of metal-insulator-metal (MIM) nano-strip waveguides. The resonators have submicron diameters (r<460nm) and the width of nano-strip waveguides is 100nm. All parameters of resonators are optimized to resonate at the wavelength of 1550nm. For the optimized design of resonators, the characteristics of the lightwave propagation through the Au-based MIM plasmonic waveguides are examined. The effective indices, the propagation loss, and the bending loss are calculated. Also, to compensate for the relatively high absorption loss of the MIM nano-ring resonators, a gain medium is applied to enable a longer transport. More detailed results will be presented in the conference. These nano-ring resonators will play an important role as basic building blocks for the realization of nano-scale photonic integrated circuits.
