초록

We have examined the antimicrobial effects of fabrics, on which nano-sized silver particles were applied during the rinse cycle. Colloidal silver made by a reduction of AgNO3 solution or by electiolysis of pure siler sicks was used. Cotton and polyester fabrics were treated in a Terg-o-tometer. The percent reduction of the gram positive Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and the gram negative Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria on the treated fabric from that on the untreated was calculated. The cotton fabric treated with 1.3ppm colloidal silver for 10 minutes had >99% reduction of bacteria, and the maintenance of the reflectance was >99%. The polyester fabric that was made of filament fibers and possessed more even surfaces had lower antimicrobial effectiveness than the cotton fabric.
