초록
The purpose of this paper is to provide an understanding of trust and leadership using the indigenous psychological and cultural perspectives. The first part of this paper will introduce the concept of culture and how it can be used to understand developments and transformations of societies. Second, we will provide an overview of the cultural transformation that took place during the last two millennia, which provide a basis for understanding trust and leadership in civil societies. Third, East Asian model, focusing on Confucianism, will be introduced to as an alternative to the Western models of trust and leadership. Fourth, research on parent-child relationship, academic achievement and organizational practices and management will be reviewed to highlight a different conception and implementation of trust in Korea. Finally, empirical studies conducted in Korea focusing on trust and leadership will be provided.
