초록
In this paper, the spectral element model is developed for the axial-bending-shearlateral contraction coupled dynamics of a composite beam with surface-bonded PZT transducers. The smart composite beam is represented by Timoshenko beam model for the bending motion and Mindlin-Herrmann rod model for the axial motion. The spectral element model formulated by using the variational approach is verified by comparing with the finite element analysis solutions. Ultrasonic guided waves are then investigated through numerical studies.
