An Experimental Investigation on Sound Transmission Loss Performance of Magnetorheological Elastomer with Permanent Magnets

초록

This paper presents an experimental investigation on sound transmission loss performance of magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) with permanent magnets. From experimental results, the sound transmission loss of a grid-shaped structure embedded with MRE and permanent magnets can be improved over a wide frequency range (from 250Hz to 2500Hz). This study provides preliminary research for the development of new sound insulating technology based on MRE. The proposed simple method appears to offer potential applications in sound insulation systems, even though the sound transmission loss of MRE under magnetic field needs to be further improved.
