Differentiation of rat bone and bone marrow stromal stem cells in vivo and in vitro
초록
In osteoporosis, the bone marrow stroma osteogenic cell population declines and adipocyte numbers increase. A number of chinese medicines have been claimed to have beneficial effects of bone structure and metobolism. In order to investigate the possible mechanism of action of such a product, a chinese drug NOG-GAG was chosen for in vivo and in vitro study. In the present study, NOG-GAG had the beneficial effect on hematopoiesis by increasing Hct. Bone density of 4 groups was not different obviously by X-lay observation. The total number of CFU-F was not decreased by ovarectomy, and was not increased by NOG-GAG treatment. But the number of alkaline phosphatase positive CFU-F was increased in NOG-GAG treatment. But the number of alkaline phosphatase positive CFU-F was increased in NOG-GAG treated group, especially in osteoporotic rats. These results shows that NOG-GAG could promote osteogenic differentiation of marrow stromal stem cell.
