국내 항공기 정비(MRO)산업의 발전방안 연구

초록

Last decade the aviation industry has faced many challenges of which included some of economic recessions, the September 11, fluctuating oil prices and other various reasons. Despite these hurdles of the past, the aviation industry has been rapidly recovering and growing. The aviation industry’s rapid recovery can be prominently seen in the Asia Pacific region due to the increase in air traffic and aircraft purchases. For this reason, it can be expected that the Maintenance, Repair and Operation (MRO) market will unprecedently develop not only in Korea but also global market. Therefore, the development of the aviation MRO industry has significantly been considered. The study reinterprets the outline of MRO industry as well as review of the operating system, the global market and company status in the market through the academic performances and industrial perspectives. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is used to analyze efficiency in comparison between global MRO companies and the Korean MRO companies. Lastly the study seeks to identify the problem and suggest possible development plans for domestic MRO companies. The study revealed that the most important factor to improve efficiency is to reach economics of scale from enough sales as the aviation MRO industry has extremely high fixed costs. However, domestic companies had lower efficiency than global companies because of a lower sales scale, lower output value comparing input time. Finally, the study suggests a recommended development plan to gain the international competitiveness. Key Words: MRO, Maintenance, DEA, Efficiency, Aero space industry
