‘모리배’와 ‘X 모리배’에 반영된 해방 직후의 사회상에 대한 일고찰: 1945년부터 1950년까지의 조선일보 신문 기사를 중심으로

This study examines the characteristics of the term molipay during the 1945–1950 period noting that molipay was concentrated in newspaper articles, and examines the social situation in the immediate postliberation period based on the contents of the paragraphs mentioning the expression X of molipay and ‘X molipay’. The study shows that molipay was closely related to many social issues and social problems at the time. In addition, through the contents of the articles in which ‘X molipay’ was used, it is found that unauthorized schools and universities were established imprudently and the schools’ demands for illegal money were prevalent in society. It is also shown that unlawful disposal of state or public property, opium (drug) addicts and opium molipay increased and that corruption of officials and illegal immigrants caused many social problems. Further, the soaring prices, the problem of distribution, and concealed goods also emerged as serious social problems. The problems related to rice were particularly serious. In addition, smuggling, housing shortages, the increase of Koreans living in war, and improper handling of enemy property were also important social issues.
